gone girl review

Unless you live under a rock, you are probably hearing all of the buzz about Gone Girl since the movie recently hit theaters. I read the book 2 years ago, and here is the review that I wrote at the time:

9/20/12 – I’m 3/4 of the way through and I keep saying “this book is psycho!!”. I have never read anything like it. I love the style of writing, but I have a feeling the end is going to be the main determining factor in to whether I like it or not.

9/21/12 – I loved the style of writing. I think the author is amazing. The end is not predictable – at least not to me. The story brought out tons of emotions and I didn’t want to put the book down very often. Sometimes I had to because parts of it were mentally exhausting. I didn’t care for the end, but then, I’m guessing that might have been the intent. I don’t want to give it away so that’s all I’ll say. Now I’m off to read a much LIGHTER book about puppies and kittens or something. :-)

So, there you have it! I absolutely loved Gillian Flynn’s writing style, but the content was a bit dark and twisty. And now that I’m two years removed from reading the book, of course I want to watch the movie after reading all of the reviews. I have yet to find a movie that is better than the book, but some come close. From the sounds of it, this movie does the book justice. If you have seen it yet, what is your opinion?

If you haven’t read Gone Girl yet, you can purchase it on Amazon for $6.72 right now. I promise you’ll be entertained – I just can’t say how you are going to feel about the ending! ;-)
