My Favorite Christmas Books for Kids 2012

by Marcy on December 11, 2012 · 1 comment

I have a thing for books, and Christmas books are no exception. When my oldest daughter was 3 or 4 I started building up our library of Christmas books and movies. Then I would wrap them and let her open one every day in December, ending with “The Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve. It took a couple of years to build up to 24 books/movies but I got there! (Now I’m focusing on swapping some of the not so good ones out with better ones!)

Today I thought I would share a few of our favorite Christmas books. My girls are 2 and 6 so we have a bit of a mixture when it comes to reading level. Board books are so nice for the little ones too…I’m doing my best to keep the really nice ones (Polar Express!) out of my 2 year old’s hands this year!

Our (current) Favorite Kids Christmas Books:

The Polar Express

J Is for Jesus: The Sweetest Story Ever Told

Llama Llama Holiday Drama

My First Story of Christmas

Clifford’s Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: A 50th Anniversary Retrospective

Christmas is Finally Here (Veggietales)

Here are a few books that are on my wish list to purchase for my girls eventually:

The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving

Dream Snow

Olive, the Other Reindeer

Pete the Cat Saves Christmas

Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree

Christmas in the Manger Board Book

What are your favorite Christmas books for kids? I would love to hear what you read during the holidays!

What a great idea!! I bet I could probably do 12-14 days of movies & books about Christmas already. We love How the Grinch Stole Christmas (my boys even ‘sing’ the Who song as I’m reading it LOL)
I’m always looking for more books ideas, I’ll need to check some of these out from the library.
