Home Improvement on a Budget | Reclaiming our Garage with The Bagster by Waste Management

This past summer was quite possibly one of the busiest (and exciting!) of my adult life. In addition to the day to day madness that comes with raising little ones and juggling jobs and activities, we listed our first home in early May and were in contract 3 days later (we are VERY fortunate and blessed). Within 2 weeks of that we were in contract on our current home, and in early July we were moving!

While we anticipated the move, we did not anticipate my husband’s 3 week international business trip – wedged right in the middle of contract signings and closings. While we did the best we could when it came to packing up the house, it ended up being a fairly messy and disorganized process to say the least! Most of the mess has landed in our garage and basement, so when I was contacted by Waste Management in the fall to see if I would be interested in trying out The Bagster and sharing the project with you, I was more than eager to accept!

If, like me, you have never heard of The Bagster, here is some more info for you:

  • The Bagster is a highly durable, woven bag designed for disposing as much as 3,300 lbs of debris
  • The Bagster is large enough to hold full sheets of plywood, doors and even a bath tub!
  • The Bagster is a convenient and affordable solution to remove debris for smaller home improvement projects
  • The Bagster bag is ready when you are – it is easy to purchase and fill, and collection can be scheduled quickly once your project is complete and the bag is full!

We decided to tackle the garage for this project. The largest piece of “debris” that needed to be removed was our old living room carpet. We also had a lot of miscellaneous items cluttering up the garage that needed to go. Many of these items were too large/bulky for regular trash pick up.

Because I order everything that I can online, I chose to order The Bagster Bag on Amazon for $29.95 (currently marked down to $26.99). I am an Amazon Prime member so shipping was free and I had the bag in 2 days. The Bagster bag is also sold at local home improvement and hardware stores, including participating The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware and True Value. To find a local retailer near you, visit www.thebagster.com.

Here are two pictures “BEFORE” the garage clean out:

And I would show you the “AFTER” pictures right now, but what fun would that be?! :-) Stay tuned, because later in the week I’ll share some after pictures with you, along with our experiences with The Bagster…PLUS I’ll have an amazing giveaway courtesy of Waste Management!
