I come from a car loving family. When I think back on my childhood, my dad and brother seemed to spend most of their waking hours either in a garage working on cars or on a track racing them. My husband is also fond of cars, and has been known to have one of our two torn apart looking for squeaks and rattles at any given time.
Like me, many Americans have fond vehicle-related stories and memories that they shared with dad (or the other men in their lives) – be it taking a road trip or spending time together under the hood. In honor of Father’s Day, Jiffy Lube is encouraging Americans to share their memories or the car care knowledge that dad passed down via the “Keeping My Ride Alive” Facebook community – a place for drivers who hope to achieve high-mileage on their vehicles. Anyone can upload images of their vehicle and a caption about what they learned from dad.
Regular preventive maintenance is the best way to keep dad’s/the family’s vehicle running for years to come – and a Jiffy Lube Gift Card can help do just this Father’s Day. It can be a great Father’s Day gift, be it standalone or as part of a gift basket, to help make dad’s errands easier and to help him preserve the value and longevity of his vehicle.
The Jiffy Lube Gift Card can be loaded with any dollar amount from $5 to $300 and can be redeemed toward any Jiffy Lube preventive maintenance service, including the popular Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change, which provides drivers with much more than just an oil and filter change and is a quick and convenient way for dads to maintain their vehicles.
Jiffy Lube Gift Cards are available for purchase at www.jiffylube.com or at participating in-store locations. The cards have no inactivity fees or expiration date. You can find a Jiffy Lube Location near you (or your dad) here.

My dad was teaching my how to drive … all went well until we got home. I was pulling in the driveway and as I was almost stopped and done … I hit the gas really hard (instead of the brake) and we launched through the garage door! We both looked at each other and laughed. I will never forget it.

In high chool my parents let me borrow their van to take a group of people to a concert. But when I pulled into the garage that night I hit the side of the garage and got paint all over the side of their van. My friend and I thought we could use finger nail polish remover to get it off and they would never know. So here we were at 3 AM with a bag of cotton balls and nail polish remover trying to get the paint off the van! Needless to say my parents DID notice!

My favorite memory was when I bought my first car by myself. I didn’t have any money saved up but on a part time job at 16, I saved enough money in 1 1/2 months to buy my car. My parents were so excited and it really helped me to learn that I can get what I want – I just have to save and wait and it will all be worth it in the end. I had that car for five years and did me well!
My favorite memory is driving fast with my Dad as a kid. The speed limit was 75 then and dad drove faster.
My parents bought me an old car for my 17th birthday. It spent most of its time sitting broken in our driveway. One night something went wrong with the electrical system and the car caught on fire and was destroyed. After that I was able to get a car that actually worked instead of being broke down all the time.
My boyfriend at the time had a car that I was making monthly payments on and it just so happened we got married. I was done with the monthly payments then! LOL :)

Before I got turned loose on the road at 16 my Daddy insisted that I be able to at least change my own tires. Later on I got more advanced lessons, like changing my own oil, checking & topping off fluids, replacing headlamps and much more. We spent a lot of time together working on various cars. He still wants to do it all for me since I am single but he is very proud of the fact that I COULD do it on my own.
