I just got back from Kroger. Bought 6 Lean Cuisine meals and received a surprise $3 off your next shopping order! Yay!

Marcy, what is your take on the recent Kroger deals? It seems like they aren’t as good as they were last year! I am hoping this Mega Sale turns out to be a good one, but right now, it isn’t looking that way! Any insight?

Kimberly, I totally agree, the deals haven’t been as good lately. I’m not sure why though. I’m holding out hope that things will get better next month in time for back to school…

I said just last week that the Kroger deals were few and far between lately but I think this Mega Event looks like a good one. I believe there is also a catalina for the Danoninos yogurt and I’m expecting one for the Lean Cuisine, too. I also think that the Mentos gum is $1 again this week so I can get a few more free with some coupons I have leftover from last time.

Skintimates and Edge shave gel are $2 again this week so .50 after .75/1 coupons.

5 Whitney July 13, 2010 at 9:58 PM

Yay Kroger! I spent $57 and got $9 back in catalinas. I saved $105 (not including the catalinas)!

Here are a few deals I think are worth mentioning:

– Motrin PM (20 ct) are $2.50 with Mega Event. Use the 3.00/1 (4/18 RP) and it’s a moneymaker!

– Buy 2 or more Dan-o-ninos (up to 4) and the catalina you get back will give you an extra .50 off each, making these free. (Buy 2 get $1 OYNO, etc.)

– My store had blinkies for the Philadelphia cream cheese minis a few weeks ago for .55/1. These are .99 with Mega Event so they were free

– Buy 4 select General Mills cereals and receive $4 OYNO. None of the cereals were on sale but the Chex and Total are included. Some of the varieties are between 3.43-3.45 (regular price) a box and there have been several .75/1 coupons. With the catalina they are less than $1 each.

– And yes, I verified that the Mentos gum was again only $1 so it’s free after coupon.

I can’t wait for someone else to spot some more deals before next week so I can do another transaction or two! Right now I’ve used up all my applicable coupons.

I was kind of happy about several of the deals this week. I guess everything is relative-right? Two things…

1. My Kroger actually had several lean cuisines for $1.68, and a handful that were 1.18 too (pot roast, some alfredo, and a few other good ones that my family will eat). On top of that, I also got a $4 OYNO catalina for purchasing. So that didn’t shape up to be too bad. $11.80 for 10 boxes of them, -$2 for my $1/5 coupons, -$4 for catalina, final tally would be $5.80 for 10 of them, or .58 each!

2. The TOILET PAPER PRINCIPLE…ok, I have to admit I have obsessed over this a little since it was posted. I have been staring at more toilet paper packaging lately trying to compare. People think I’m crazy :). I’m not sure WHAT I purchased but in the past few weeks I have been blessed with several Cottonelle catalina coupons that I stowed away and didnt really think much of at the time. A couple were for $2. So I was able to score some of the Ultra Double Rolls pkg of 12 for 1.99. I was even thrilled to get some additional pkgs with $1 off coupons (2.99 ea) because it was some of the good stuff for less than I have been shelling out lately. I’ve found it to be extremely challenging to pickup toilet paper for anywhere near the utopian TPP price level!

7 sarah July 13, 2010 at 10:23 PM

Whitney, I see you were able to use your philly-mini-blinkie coupons (wow that was fun to say)! There are like 6 krogers within a 2 mile radius of my house and on the way to work…but the one I happened to stop at this week didn’t have the minis included. I wonder if this was just a case of the tags being up? I looked at the flier and they didnt show the minis either. Has anyone had luck finding these on sale in central ohio? I’ve been just itching for a chance to use my blinkies. I grabbed another every time I went back and I think I have 5 or 6 of them now. Yum!

8 Whitney July 14, 2010 at 6:34 AM

Sarah – Yes, I think this was a case of the tag for the minis not being up. I had seen this deal in the comments on another site for stores in Michigan but I do go to a central Ohio store and the tag was up there. I only had 2 blinkies even though I saw them several times – I really thought it was unlikely I would ever use them because the normal price is something like $2.50 for 5 oz of cream cheese! It was nice to get it for free plus a small overage. Lucky you to have picked up extra – I should have when I had the chance!

I’ve often wondered if some stores (not Kroger normally) choose not to post every sales tag. My Walgreens will rarely have even the sale prices up for some of the best Register Rewards deals and so I always have to write everything down and I still make mistakes and buy the wrong things sometimes. Lately I’ve become convinced that this is intentional.

Pataskala Kroger has the minis on the sale. I just went this morning to pick up 10 gatorades and some things that I don’t have coupons for that were on sale so I could browse the mega items, then come home and check on here to see what the best deals were compared. I’m sad I missed the philly blinkie, because I have been watching those for a couple weeks. I think they are really good for my kids for DIY breakfast…but like you said, too expensive to justify paying more per oz.

10 Dani July 14, 2010 at 12:35 PM

If anyone has the $1.00 off fruit chillers coupons, these are only 49 cents after coupons. (at least at mine they were on the buy ten deal)

11 HeatherS July 14, 2010 at 7:43 PM

I picked up Alouette spreadable cheese in the specialty cheese area at my Kroger the other day for $2.99 (regular $4.99) and the packaging has two coupons inside. One is for 75 cents off Alouette Spreadable cheese (sorry does not double) and the other is for One Alouette Crumbled Cheese FREE up to max value of $3.79. Goat cheese is pictured but I imagine they have other types of crumbled cheeses too. Both coupons expire 12/31/10. The front of the packaging says “Free Alouette Crumbled Cheese – Details Inside” The spreadable cheese makes a nice snack on crackers!

12 muser July 16, 2010 at 11:58 AM

Just a heads up with regards to the Scotchbrite sponge deals–the recent coupon from 7/11 SS (from my insert, anyway) states it must be two MULTIPACKS. So the deal wouldn’t work with the single sponge packages.
