Alvin and the Chipmunks:The Squeakquel – Available 3/30/10

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Alvin and the Chipmunks. All opinions are 100% mine.

Growing up, I lived in a rural area, 30 + miles from the nearest movie theater and nearly as far from any chain restaurants. The great thing is, my  mom always did fun things that allowed my brother and I to enjoy a similar experience without feeling deprived. Some weekends she would treat us with burgers & fries or homemade pizzas along with root beer floats or milkshakes. We were then allowed to take our “restaurant” food into the living room to eat on TV trays while watching a movie. Not only was this a frugal way to entertain our family – it also formed great memories that I still have today!

Because I now look for ways to cut back without depriving my family, we too have movie nights every now and then (complete with popcorn!). I honestly think I enjoy this more than going out sometimes. I’m excited, because Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is coming out on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download on Tuesday, March 30th and I think it’ll make for a fun movie night in at our house. (If you haven’t seen this movie yet and want to check out the trailer, you can view it here.) Included in this launch is a special Double DVD Pack that includes “The Squeak Along” Bonus Disc – full of music and singalongs. You can buy it now (for $22.99) here.

Last night (before my hard drive decided to croak!) my daughter and I had fun “munking” ourselves and watching videos of the Chipmunks (and Chipettes). Be sure to check it out with your own kids here. My daughter was still singing “All the Single Ladies” today. :-) She had a blast recording her voice (and her own name), dressing the Chipmunks in various outfits and watching the Chipettes sing and dance using her words. You can enjoy More Munk Mayhem (including videos, games and activities).

Do you have movie nights in with your family? How to you make them special for your kids?

My little cousins’ daughter sings this all the time and even copies the dance moves. She looks like one of those cute kids doing those youtube videos!! It just cracks me up. Sounds like Great Memories to be made with the “staying in”. I think we as moms want to try hard to create special memories and traditions for our kids. Especially something as simple as that. I love the Chipmunks! I really wish they’d come out with a SMURFS movie! They’re my fave!!

We make a fort in the living room, put on our jammies, pop popcorn, make a fire in the fire place (in the winter) and watch. It’s kinda like indoor camping and we all have fun (except when the cats think they can walk on the “roof” of our tent and it caves in…)!!
