When the folks at Burlington Coat Factory contacted me about writing a review and hosting a giveaway, I jumped at the chance. For one, my daughter was in need of a winter coat – plus it has been years since I had been to a Burlington Coat Factory.
Last week I loaded my daughter up and we headed to our local Burlington Coat Factory store. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I’ll be honest – my expectations weren’t all that high. Even though I blog about saving money and using coupons, I am not a fan of having to dig to find deals. I was a little leery of Burlington Coat Factory because I thought that was what I would have to do. Thankfully, I did not find that to be the case at all.
My local store appeared to have been newly remodeled – it was a very nice store with nice wide aisles and everything was clearly marked. Right off the bat I found about 3 Nine West purses that I wanted to purchase for myself – all reasonably priced at around $30. But I resisted and headed to the kids coat section. I despise coat shopping for my daughter – in the past I have always found selection to be limited at the mall stores I frequent – not to mention I can never seem to find her size.
Burlington Coat Factory was a different experience all together. They had row after row of kids coats, well organized and in all sizes and styles. I wanted to find a neutral coat for my daughter and I finally settled on the coat pictured above. It is a Rothschild Kids coat and is priced at $60 on the Rothschild website. I paid $29.99 for this coat at Burlington Coat Factory, and because I bought it a little large, we should get at least 2 years of wear out of it.
After selecting a coat, we checked out the kids shoe section which was my only disappointment of the trip – they didn’t have much to choose from. We then perused the men’s and women’s coats and again I was pleasantly surprised at the variety available – lots of great name brand coats and reasonable prices. I then took a detour through the Baby Depot section of the store and was shocked that they rivaled other large baby stores in their offerings. Finally, we landed in the toy department where we chose two toys for a friend’s birthday party. I thought that the toy selection was decent and that the prices were competitive. My total out of pocket for 2 toy items and the coat mentioned above was $53 and change – not too shabby!
Overall I can honestly say that I left Burlington Coat Factory a happy customer, and that I plan to return when it is time to select a few baby items that we need.
Now through December 24th, donate a coat to the 3rd annual Burlington Coat Factory Coat Drive and receive a coupon good for 10% off your entire purchase. Get the details here.
I am excited that Burlington Coat Factory has given me a $50 gift card to share with one of you, so that you can check out your local store and make a purchase of your own!

While Old Navy isn’t necessarily my favorite place to shop for kids’ coats, it’s where I usually end up purchasing them. We can usually get a reasonable price and I can buy for all 3 kids in one store. I don’t love the quality but they work for a winter and then I just always end up back there the next year.

I used to shop at Burlington Coat Factory all the time when we lived in Northern Virginia. They are a great place for winter outerwear. Since we moved to a rural county in Virginia, we tend to keep a close eye on the local consignment shop or head to Kohl’s for winter clothes.
I like to shop where I can find a name brand at a reduced price.

For my daughter, honestly, I can’t stand the high prices at regular stores so I look at Once Upon a Child and thrift stores. I have stopped looking at most stores because the prices are frightening!
I usually shop at Old Navy for winter stuff but also at Marshalls. I do like Burlington, you can find some good deals there.

parmetTotally love to shop at Goodwill stores…..I just found GAP jeans and shirts for my boys, and an OLD NAVY jacket for my daughter…..and some Hollister and Tommy Hilfiger clothes. I’m also a big fan of Marshall’s. I tell everyone I know about this site….I have to tell you, it is quite the good one. I thank my sister Danielle (through Marcy) for showing me this site!
I usually shop at Gap or JCPenney for coats (although, I’ll admit it’s been awhile since buying a coat! LOL!). I will definitely have to check out Burlington Coat Factory now!

Budget dictates I do the shopping wherever the best clearance at the end of the season is. Often that is Old Navy or Target. If I need something for the season we’re in I go Once Upon a Child.

I either go to Target, Wal-Mart or Sometimes K-Mart. This year I need to purchase 2 coats. My son’s coat zipper broke and my smallest daughter has a hand me down & the sleeves are getting a wee bit short…haha.
gotta love Burlington…and you’re right, the kids shoes is a little bit disappointing. We’ve gotten children’s coats at Burlington before, as well as SuperTarget and Macy’s…just depends on the selection and sizing.
Yep, I subscribe to your blog…thanks for all of your wonderful tips!
I usually find my coats at Marshalls. I like Burlington Coat Factory as well. This year, I lucked out and found a winter coat at Lands End on line for $35! I was so psyched.

I like Old Navy. Good prices and large selection for the whole family plus great sales!
My last two coat purchases were from Steinmart (really good deal w/ a 20% off coupon!) and Marshalls (got a fabulous purple coat for $50!) So those are my two favorite spots for now. I have shopped at Burlington in the past and there is one down the street from my home so perhaps a gift card could spark my interest again! :-)

I shop where I can find the best deal. This year I got my girls coats at Gabriel Bros. New coats for $16 ea. Yeah!
I love Burlington because I don’t have to wait for a sale to get a good deal. I would love to get some new sheets there with a gift card.

BCF is my favorite place to buy outer wear – they have a huge selection and really good prices! I also bought a lot of my baby stuff there because they have the same brands as Toys R’ Us for a fraction of the cost! Score.

My favorite place to shop these days is Goodwill. It’s one of the few thrift stores around us that has a dressing room. If I had the money to go to a regular department store though I think I would choose Old Navy. I love their looks and comfy clothing!

Well, this is going to sound awful, but the only place I’ve shopped for outerwear in the last several years is Goodwill and yard sales. It is amazing what people will sell for 5 bucks. Really nice stuff, if you know where to look. So that’s my favorite way to do it.
