Kroger: Candy Catalinas

Monday is typically grocery shopping day for me, and as always I went to Kroger. I decided to buy all of my Halloween candy to get it out of the way – plus I need to make up a couple of treat bags for a party tomorrow. After checking out, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is a Catalina deal going on right now when you buy Hershey’s Candy.

Here are the details:

* Get $5 toward your next purchase when you buy $25 worth (before coupons!) of participating Hershey’s products between 10/18/09 – 10/31/09.

Participating items include: Halloween-Themed Snack Size Packages (9-16 oz), Jumbo Snack Size Packages (16.3-27.14 oz), Harvest-Themed Packages (10-18.5 oz) Super Snack Size Assortments (24.17-55.28 oz), Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkin Singles & 6 pks, and 30 ct variety packs.

Here is the scenario that I (inadvertently!) used to get a $5 coupon toward my next purchase:

* Buy 2 bags of Kit Kats @ $2.50/ea = $5
* Buy 3 bags of Hershey’s Bars @ $2.50/ea = $7.50
* Buy 3 bags of Reese’s Cups @ $2.50/ea = $7.50
* Buy 2 bags of Reese’s Miniatures @ $2.50/ea = $5
* Use B3G1 FREE in 10/18 Smart Source insert
* Use $1/3 – unsure of insert
* Paid $21.50 out of pocket, received $5 toward my next purchase – It’s like getting 10 bags of candy for $1.65/ea

My friend Marianne let me know about a Nestle Catalina deal that is going on at Kroger right now as well.

Here are the details:

* Purchase 2 Nestle or Wonka Bagged Candy (11+ oz) and receive $1 toward your next purchase; Purchase 3 and receive $2 toward your next purchase; Purchase 4+ and receive $3 toward your next purchase. This offer is valid through 11/1/09 and these coupons would pair well with it:

* $2/1 Nestle Bags of Candy (24 oz or larger)
* $2/1 Wonka Bags of Candy (24 oz or larger)

You can also earn $1 for college when you buy 2 bags of Nestle/Wonka candy. Just sign in (or sign up) for UPromise and check out their eCoupons! Get more info here.

Thanks for the great candy deals!! I am confused though. It looks like you have to spend $25 before coupons, however it looks like you are only spending $21.00.

I would love to get some cheap candy too so I was just wondering what I truly have to spend.

Thanks in advance!!

Anon. – thanks so much for catching my error. I forgot to list the 2 bags of Reese’s miniatures that I purchased. I have corrected the scenario above.
