Trail Mix: Making Use of the Peanut Stash

Ok, I promise…this will be my last post of the day. I am SUPER chatty today for some reason… It doesn’t hurt that DD has been sleeping since 2:00 and that I don’t have to make dinner tonight! :)

Do you remember the $3/1 Planters coupons that were circulating on the web a month or so ago? If you were like me, you were able to get several tins of Planter’s Peanuts for free.

Because we don’t really eat peanuts out of the can, I have been trying to think of something that I could make to start using them up. My friend “K” mentioned making trail mix. I like trail mix, so when I went to Kroger yesterday I picked up a large bag of M&M’s, a bag of Kroger brand pretzels and some raisins.

Kroger brand pretzels are on sale through Sunday for $1/ea, and the M&M’s, though ticketed $3.99, rang up for $1.50! So for less than $5, I have all of the ingredients to make my own trail mix which should come in handy for our (short) road trip this weekend. I actually have enough ingredients to make several batches.

Do you have a stash of peanuts right now too? Do you have any good recipes that call for peanuts?
