Sometimes it Pays to Procrastinate!

I am one of those people where if I get it in my head that I want something, I have a really hard time letting it go. For some reason my obsession of the summer has been this picnic table from Step 2:
It matches the Sand & Water table that we already have for my daughter, plus it blends in with our patio and fades well (if that is possible).

The retail price for this table is $89.99, and I knew that I didn’t want to pay that much. I have been searching eBay, Craigslist, garage sales, and various online retailers for over 4 months now, trying to find a better price, with no luck. Whenever I found a sale, shipping would negate it.

So anyway…tonight we decided to do some early Christmas shopping (to at least start looking) to see if we could score any deals, and to see what is out there. I decided we should check out Meijer…mainly because I have never shopped for toys there and also because it was on my mind due to my earlier Meijer deals post.

We found tons of clearanced toys, but most exciting was the fact that the store we went to had 2 Step 2 picnic tables and they were marked down to $59.99! We picked out a few more discounted toys (birthday and Christmas gifts) and headed toward the checkout. That’s when I decided to check to see if there were any coupons in the weekly ad. Lo and behold, I found 4 coupons that were good for today only. I wasn’t sure if they would work on clearance items, but decided to see. Lucky for me, they worked.

So what did I end up paying for this table? $49.99!! I am beyond excited! That is $40 cheaper than if I had purchased it at the beginning of the summer like I wanted to. I also saved an additional $3 on another toy that I purchased. I ended up getting the table, a LEGO ship, Fisher-Price Cement Truck/Blocks, arm floaties, and 2 sets of stackable cups for $85. Which was cheaper than the retail price of the table.

I was so excited I wanted to cry. Yes, I am a dork. :-) I have had lukewarm feelings about Meijer up until this point, but as of tonight I am a much bigger fan! If you are going to be at Meijer anytime soon and are in need of toys for Christmas/Birthdays, be sure to check it out. I’m guessing all of their stores are clearancing items to make room for all of the new Christmas stuff.
