This summer I have shared some of my favorite snacks and sun care items, and how I do movie night at home on the cheap thanks to my local CVS/pharmacy. Today I’m going to chat a little bit about beauty products! Even though I have always leaned toward a more natural look, I still require a fair amount of beauty products to look presentable. Body lotion, face lotion, anti-aging creams, foundation, concealer, eye liner, lip gloss, eye shadow, mascara, shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, face cleanser, body cleanser – WHEW! Those are some of the products that I use on a daily basis, and I would not consider myself to be high maintenance at all! (my husband might disagree…)

Over the last few months I had the opportunity to try the CVS brand products seen in the image above. One of the ways that I slash my spending is to try store brand products, and in my opinion, CVS brand products do not disappoint. I have super sensitive skin, so I was happy to try CVS Brand Intense Repairing Lotion. I like that it is fragrance free, and have found it to be a great body moisturizer! I really love sunless glow lotion for my legs and was excited to see that CVS offers a store brand version that costs less than the name brand that I had been using. The CVS Brand Dry Shampoo has seen a lot of use in my hair this summer as I don’t always have time to shower in the morning before running my kids somewhere. I love the smell of this product, and have found that extra brushing or a quick swipe of a towel will help to combat the powdery look that can occur if you spray too much on. I eventually got the hang of it. ;-) And while I usually wash my face with a mild cleanser and my hands, I have found the CVS Brand Exfoliating Apricot Towelettes to be super convenient (these also smell great) after the gym or on nights when I’m too tired to go through my entire routine but would like to have a clean face.

Now that I am entering my late 30’s, I am starting to notice the effect of aging on my face and body. Skin care is becoming more important to me than ever, and I am trying to be more diligent about working anti-aging products in to my nightly routine. I start by cleansing my face with a sensitive skin wash. Right now I’m loving Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser because it does not dry out my face. I then use the ROC 5-in-1 anti-aging line of products. I was worried that these products would break me out so I used them sparingly at first – but I am now using them every night with no issues. One of the the things that I have been battling with the most lately is how dry/crepey the tops of my hands are starting to look. And lets not even talk about my elbows! No matter what cream I used, it never felt like they were fully absorbing or helping the issue. One day I decided to try Neutrogena Deep Moisture Night Cream on the tops of my hands and my elbows at night, and it really seems to help! All of these products are available at CVS/pharmacy.

As readers of this blog, many of you are already aware of the CVS ExtraCare Savings program and likely use it yourself.  (See: 7 Tips to Maximize Your CVS ExtraCare Savings for more ideas.) But did you know that CVS also has an ExtraCare Beauty Club?

The ExtraCare Beauty Club is FREE to join, and members enjoy these benefits:

  • 10% off beauty shopping pass after enrollment
  • $5 ExtraBucks Rewards for every $50 spent on qualifying beauty purchases
  • $3 ExtraBucks rewards on your birthday
  • Exclusive emails with coupons, tips and new product info

How cool is that?! I personally make use of this program and am thankful for the savings. I know that I’m going to be even more thankful as my girls get older and start using as many products as their mother. (I can’t even go there in my mind yet!)

So, now that you have gotten a little peek into my routine and have learned about some of the products that I love, I would love to hear from you! What beauty products are a must in your household? And what do you do to save?
