Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath + 10 Heart Wreath Ideas

I know that I have mentioned before that I’m not the craftiest person around, but I still love to decorate my home for the holidays. Occasionally that means that I find myself wielding a glue gun in the attempt to mimic a project or idea that I found on Pinterest (check out my Valentine’s Day Pinterest Board).

I don’t typically put much effort into decorating my home for Valentine’s Day, but I do like to come up with a few simple ideas, mostly for my kids. Not to mention it does feel a little bare after the Christmas Decorations are put away!

On New Year’s Eve I had a (rare) shopping/lunch date with a friend, and we found ourselves at Hobby Lobby. I love Hobby Lobby for seasonal decor, craft supplies and more. And I’m always sure to pull out my smartphone and go to HobbyLobby.com to get my 40% off a regular priced item coupon – because who doesn’t like to save a buck or two? Hobby Lobby always runs great sales on seasonal items too – but be sure to shop early for the best selection! (This is not a sponsored post – I just love Hobby Lobby!)

Anyway, right now I am loving neutral decor – and burlap – I’m obsessed with burlap – so I picked up a few cute Valentine’s Day items at Hobby Lobby.  I felt that my foyer mirror (I have this one from Target) looked a little bare over the holidays, and I thought that the wicker (?) heart seen above would make a cute addition to my round mirror. I grabbed some heart ribbon (also seen above) and decided to figure things out when I got home.

If I had been thinking I would have taken pictures of my progress as I made my Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath, but it was so simple it won’t take long for me to explain the process to you.

First – I held the heart up to my mirror and had my husband measure out the ribbon so that I knew where to cut the ribbon. I then cut 2 equal pieces of ribbon, grabbed my hot glue gun and glued each piece of ribbon to the back side of the heart – making sure to angle it up toward the center. I trimmed the extra ribbon that hung below the arch of the heart, and let the hot glue dry/set.

After that, I removed the mirror from the wall, took a piece of duck tape and stuck it to the back of the mirror. Then I re-hung the mirror. (3M Command hooks would be great too if you aren’t keen on sticking duck tape on your things.) Easy peasy – right?! While it isn’t the flashiest most complicated project around – I love what it adds to my mirror. And this project took less than 10 minutes. Not to mention it was inexpensive! Honestly, it was more difficult to take a nice picture of my wreath on a mirror (without photographing myself or the mess in the background) than it was to make this cute little heart wreath.

I thought it would be fun to share a few more DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath Ideas with you since I had fun searching the internet for mine, so here is a list of my favorites. If I get brave enough, maybe I’ll try one of these for my front door. ;-)
