Central Ohio Readers: Red, White and BOOM! VIP Seating Giveaway + Children’s Park Info

by Marcy on June 28, 2011 · 28 comments

If you live near Central Ohio you have no doubt heard of Red, White and BOOM!, the annual fireworks extravaganza held downtown each year. My husband and I used to go before we had kids and there is nothing quite like it! There is so much to see and do, and the fireworks are absolutely amazing!

I was surprised to find out that there is a lot for kids to do at Red, White and BOOM! – specifically at Children’s Park. Presented by Columbia Gas, KidsLinked.com, COSI and the Children’s Hunger Alliance, Children’s Park will open at noon on the west side of Neil Ave., between West Long Street and West Spring Street, and will feature plenty of fun activities for children ages 12 and under.

For the second year, Children’s Hunger Alliance will provide 1,000 free meals for children on BOOM day. In addition to science and learning booths, kids will delight in inflatables, face painting, temporary tattoos, live entertainment, cornhole, a GameTruck mobile gaming truck, balloon animals, crafts, and a photo opportunity with the Smurfs, among many other activities. The area is fenced for your peace of mind, and ID bracelets are available to ensure your children’s safety.

You can find more info about Children’s Park including a map here.

The 2011 Red, White & BOOM! Fireworks Show will begin at 10 p.m. along the Scioto River in downtown Columbus. Since its inception in 1981, Red, White & BOOM! has evolved into central Ohio’s premiere Independence Day celebration. More information about Red, White & BOOM! is available here.

This is going to have to be a quick one – but I have 2 seats to the special V.I.P. section of Red, White and BOOM! to give away to 1 lucky winner (This is a great section that is roped off to give you the best view, without having to stay overnight to save a seat!) – the catch is I need to select the winner and receive their info by tonight so that we can get the wrist bands out in time! That means you will have to HURRY and enter now!!

UPDATE: This giveaway has ended. #18, Susan is the winner. Congrats!

What am I giving away?

We enjoy the fireworks display at our friends’ cottage at Buckeye Lake each year, and also the Pickerington fireworks which are always on July 4! Haven’t been down to Red White and Boom for years, but it sounds like it would be the perfect date night for my husband and me. :)

The best place that I’ve been to see the fireworks display was after a Columbus Clippers game at their old field. After the game, they had fireworks. My family has always wanted to go to RWBoom! I would love to win these tickets!

My favorite RWB/fireworks was last year. My boyfriend and I took our time getting down there. We ended up with a terrible view, but it was still fun to walk around and peer through the trees watching the fireworks! Best one ever!

I’ve never attended Red white boom as my family moved to Columbus last summer from Georgia so it would be cool to attend up front and thank you for the info about kids’ activities there so we’ll consider going there with our kids.
