Giveaway: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader DVDs

by Marcy on April 12, 2011 · 268 comments

I have always loved to read, and I can vividly remember the first time I read The Chronicles of Narnia series. I had never read anything like these books up until that point, and I didn’t want them to end! I have reread the series since then, and was excited when they started to make movies of the books.

On April 8th (2011), Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment released the third installment of this beloved series – The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, on Blu-Ray and DVD. Siblings Edmund and Lucy, along with their cousin Eustace return to Narnia in this third film. Aboard the magnificent ship The Dawn Treader, the courageous voyagers travel to mysterious islands, confront mystical creatures, and reunite with the Great Lion Aslan, on a mission that tests their characters to determine the fate of Narnia itself!

This is a perfect movie night movie, and makes a great addition to your Chronicles of Narnia collection if you happened to keep the books like I did. It would also make a great Easter gift for your entire family. I know that I can’t wait to read these books (and watch the movies) with my girls some day! Be sure to check out The Chronicles of Narnia games, videos and more on their website here.

I am thrilled that I have 2 DVD copies of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to give away to 2 of you!

I really enjoy these movies! My favorite thing though is that my husband shared his love of these books with our daughter a couple years ago when he started reading them to her a little each night. Now she loves them too and we can all share in watching and enjoying each movie as they come out!! Thanks for the opportunity to win one…..my daughter would be thrilled!

2 jennifer April 12, 2011 at 9:00 AM

Oooh, I just recently discovered these movies. Watched the first 2 and loved them!

3 Crystal April 12, 2011 at 9:02 AM

I love how these stories appeal to all ages. They are good stories for kids, then as you get older and learn more, become so much deeper. There is so much symbolism in them.

4 Michelle April 12, 2011 at 9:04 AM

This series is made for people of all ages and everyone gets caught up in the fantasy of it all!

5 Lynda H. April 12, 2011 at 9:10 AM

Love the message of grace that is woven throughout the movies.

I love how both my teens – with widely different tastes in books and movies – agree on this series. I also am very happy with how closely the movies have mirrored the books. Dawn Treader was really a combination of 2 books, but it still was very close to the originals. Thanks for the giveaway!

I have read these books aloud to my older children. We loved them so much! I can remember my boys with their play swords out in the back yard pretending to be Peter and Edmund. Now I am getting ready to read them with my 3 younger children. There is nothing better than snuggling with my children and reading a great book!

My favorite thing about the book series is the world it creates- not just a fantasy world but a rich culture with a history and a future. The allegories are deep but not pushy (something that is often lost in modern stories of this type). Narnia is all the things a childrens classic should be.

16 Janet April 12, 2011 at 9:16 AM

I like that I enjoy reading them as much as an adult as I did when I was a child.

I read the entire Chronicle of Narnia set of books to my daughter before she could read. We sat down together EVERY night at bedtime and I would read to her from the books. It was a magical time. And it was a great series of books. I will always cherish that time we had together. She’s all grown up and on her own, but whenever a new Chronicle’s movie comes out, we make sure to go see it together, to relive some of that childhood magic for her and for me–I’m reliving one of my most precious times as a mom. I can’t wait for the Magician’s Nephew to come out next. I’ve heard that Walden Media has just picked it up. So excited!

some of my favorite lines from the series are the silly, simple, little ones. like when the animals think a ‘neevil’ has entered the world in mn, and how mrs. beaver frets so much about leaving her sewing machine in lww. but my favorite of all is this… “please,” she said, “you’re so beautiful. you may eat me if you like. i’d sooner be eaten by you than fed by anyone else.” (hwin in hhb) of course, that’s not silly or simple… it’s exactly how we all must come to the Father, humbly, knowing that the worst he could give us is better than the best from anyone else.

I love the Narnia movies! It is great that even though they are “Christian” movies, they have made it into the mainstream culture. I wish more of the christian movies would do that! I am hoping the new Left Behind movies will!
