#wingiveaways: Samsung Seek Cell Phone Courtesy of i-wireless – CLOSED

by Jennifer on November 11, 2010 · 453 comments

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.
I was excited when Marcy asked me to review the Samsung Seek cell phone because I have been contemplating getting another cell phone for some time now. I am definitely in the camp that doesn’t think young kids should have their own phone, but the past few months I have run into numerous times when I wish my kids had a phone. My solution to not wanting them to have their own phones, but yet having a phone when they need it was to get a third “family” phone. I just hadn’t finalized adding a 3rd phone to our cell phone plan. Enter i-wireless and the Samsung Seek cell phone.
I have had several “pay as you go” phones in the past and they were all a bit junky and broke easily. There were no extra features of any kind. When I received the Samsung Seek I was very impressed with the high quality of the phone. So was my 12 year old son who instantly started following me around pleading for it to be his. He can’t keep his hands off of it and thinks it is very cool.

Here are some of the features of this cell phone.

  • Touchscreen with sliding QWERTY keyboard
  • Easy access to social sites
  • Texting and picture capabilities
  • 1.3 MP Camera
  • Speaker phone
  • Voice dialing

There are numerous plans to choose from through i-wireless and no contract whatsoever. I will keep the basic pay-as-you-go plan of $0.20 per minute. There are other talking plans that bring the cost per minute down if you plan on using the phone a lot. There are also “i love to text plans” which I can see would be perfect for teens these days.

The only frustration I had with the phone was in turning it on and activating it. Yes, I could not find the “end” key to save my life, which is what turns it on and off. I have had numerous cell phones and this is the first one that has the end key on the side, which I found by randomly pushing every button I could. It came with a quick set of instructions that were supposed to make it easy to activate. Unfortunately the keys these instructions said to push did not exist on this phone. After several minutes of searching I finally got the big book of instructions specific to this phone and was able to get it activated. Phew, now it should be smooth sailing on using the phone.

Overall, the Samsung Seek and i-wireless will meet the needs of my family very well, and are providing my kids with a much nicer cell phone than I ever would have bought them. It is also a cell phone that they are happy to have use of, which says a lot in my opinion.

i-wireless offers pre paid phones and mobile broadband products. i-wireless products are available for purchase at the Kroger family or stores and on the i-wireless website here.

i-wireless customers that shop at the Kroger family of stores can earn FREE MINUTES on their i-wireless phone when they use their shopper’s card on qualifying purchases. For every $100 spent in-store, customers earn 20 FREE MINUTES of airtime.

I am thrilled because i-wireless has given me 1 Samsung Seek Cell Phone + a $25 airtime card to give away to one of you!

I love pre-paid phone plans. They help me stay within budget. Right now I only pay $25 every 2-3months. This would be a great upgrade to what I already have.

I have never had a prepaid cell. I have several friends who have them. Their only complaint is when it runs out of minutes you might not have service til you can add more minutes. I also know retired people who travel and keep their prepaid cell with them for emergencies..excellent idea with very low cost. Thanks for the opportunity.
