Giveaway: Serta Comforter + a Contest

by Marcy on August 6, 2010 · 107 comments

Serta is teaming up with Trump Home to get the Counting Sheep back to work, by creating Serta’s Counting Sheep for Hire contest. Ever since the comfy Serta mattress arrived on the scene, the sheep have been out of work! So the Donald has taken it upon himself to get the sheep back to work.

Now through August 13, 2010, submit your idea on the perfect job for the sheep (100 words or less) and you will be entered to win a Trump Luxury Suites Getaway in Las Vegas! The first 50 entrants each week will receive a limited edition Trump Home Counting Sheep plush toy. 3 finalists will be chosen each week for 3 weeks, and the final voting will be up to the public as to who wins the grand prize. The last day to enter is 8/13/10 and grand prize winner voting starts 8/16/10.

As added incentive to check out this contest, Serta has given me 1 Serta Comforter to give away to one of you!

What am I giving away?

1 Winner Will Receive a White Serta Down Alternative Comforter (King or Queen size)

How can you win?

Visit the Serta Facebook page and enter to win the Counting Sheep for Hire contest. Then come back here and let me know what your creative job description was. (Note: Scroll to the bottom of this post and click “Post Comment”. You must be on my site – you can’t do this through a reader.)

Get up to 3 Bonus Entries:

1) Follow @SertaSheep1 and @SertaMatresses on Twitter where you will also have a chance to be randomly selected to win limited edition prizes from Serta.

2) Subscribe to my feed or email newsletter and stay on top of all of the deals I write about each week! If you already subscribe, please leave a separate comment letting me know that you are currently a subscriber (thank you!).

3) Promote this giveaway and/or blog. If you don’t have a blog, tweet about it (follow me: I’m @stretchingabuck), post about it on your favorite forum or on Facebook (check out my Stretching a Buck Fan Page). Tell your friends about it! Be sure to leave a comment letting me know how you did it and earn another entry.

Who is eligible?

You must have a valid US address to be eligible.

When does this giveaway end?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10 PM EST

The winner will be chosen via the random number generator at random.org and will be notified via email. Please note that if I do not hear from the winner within 4 days that another winner will be chosen.

Good Luck!

Contest entered:

Dear Mr Trump,

I highly recommend that the sheep be considered for employment as pals for abused and neglected kids that are currently living in the foster care system. These kids have been through a lot and the sheep can give them comfort as well as teach responsibility.

Thanks for the consideration.

I entered my job for the sheep was to wait on all the wonderful people sleeping on the serta mattress, tuck in corners, bedmaker, mint leavers they have nothing else to do

60 Rebeca August 9, 2010 at 11:27 PM

My job was the “You’re Fired” sheep:

Dear Mr. Trump,
I am sure that you could use a little help sleeping at night, as you’re job is quite stressful. You have to fire so many people in what seems to be a rude (or some would say just stressful) way. It is my opinion that you could use a “You’re Fired” sheep to help you count your sheep at night.

Sincerely Yours,

You’re Fired

PS, Sleep well tonight.

I suggested they be added to the company for inspiration after reading some Donald Trump quotes about his thoughts on passion and energy.

65 chris d August 9, 2010 at 11:31 PM

I think we should have the sheep count up the unemployed americans we have so that we can get an accurate number and get them back to work just like the sheep.

I suggested that Mr. Trump hire the sheep for a position in the PR department. Also, when shearing season comes around there should be enough wool to knit a pair of socks…He has a warm heart so maybe he has cold feet :)

The sheep are in charge of fluffing pillows, folding down blankets and leaving those little chocolate truffles on the pillows of Trump Tower patrons every night. Just make sure they’re actually leaving actual truffles and not something that can be mistaken for a truffle.
