Back to School Giveaway: $100 Amex Gift Card Courtesy of Invisalign Teen – CLOSED

by Marcy on August 16, 2010 · 1,105 comments

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.

For those of you with tween and teenage kids, you are well aware of the pressures that they face to fit in. Getting ready to go back to school is as much about the clothes you buy for your kids as it is about the school supplies that they need. While I don’t have teenagers yet, when I think back on my middle school and high school years, I can remember all too well the desire to wear the “right” clothes and to have the “right” hair cut – all in an effort not to stand out (in a bad way!).

Another rite of passage for many kids is the need to wear braces. While I was fortunate to dodge that bullet, my brother and most of my friends were not. I can remember their embarrassment and frustration with their metal braces – yet another thing added to those already awkward years. Fortunately, today there are options that weren’t available when I was younger. Invisalign Teen makes a series of clear aligners that are custom-fit to your child’s teeth. In addition to being close to invisible, these aligners are said to be more comfortable than metal braces. They snap easily on to your child’s teeth and allow for the growth of their permanent teeth. Plus they can be removed for brushing, flossing, eating or even going to a special event.

Teens are often very active in sports, music and other activities – some of which can be uncomfortable with metal braces. Invisalign aligners are comfortable and durable and allow kids to continue to participate in their activities without the hassle.

You can get more info about Invisalign Teen and find a doctor near you here.

Now through 9/30/10, Invisalign is running a “Gear Up From Head to Toe” back to school sweepstakes. The Grand Prize winner will receive a FREE Invisalign treatment and a $500 shopping spree at Journeys! Learn more and enter to win here.

I never had to wear braces but I would hate for my kids to have to mess with the brushing of them. My parents couldn’t afford them.

5 Patty August 16, 2010 at 7:22 AM

I didn’t know they made invisiline for kids! My daughter is already anxious just anticipating braces and I know she would love this product. Thanks for sharing :)

6 Dawn Edwards August 16, 2010 at 7:30 AM

Worst thing about braces is food stuck in them–GROSS!

(sorry, typo in my email address in the previous comment)

7 Libby August 16, 2010 at 7:34 AM

I’m a former band director and LOVE that Invisaligns allow students to not have to play against brackets…plus kids can brush their teeth well…

8 Edith August 16, 2010 at 7:38 AM

I love the fact that invisiline is clear so that it’s not completely noticable.

18 Cari August 16, 2010 at 7:44 AM

We have 5 kids! Makes me dizzy thinking about braces for all of them. My 12 year old thinks these invisalign are the way to go.

19 Laura August 16, 2010 at 7:44 AM

I love that they can be taken in and out so that there are no restricted foods! Woohoo corn on the cob!

4 of my 5 children have had braces-the metal always digs into their cheeks. This sounds like a good alternative.

23 zena August 16, 2010 at 7:48 AM

I love that their not very noticeable…I remember the insecurities of being a teenager!

24 Robin August 16, 2010 at 7:48 AM

42 Kelly C. August 16, 2010 at 8:02 AM

I think the clear factor is the best feature too! I may have to look ino Invisalign now : ) I didn’t need braces when I was a teenager but I do now for my bottom teeth. Thanks for the giveaway.

43 Doris August 16, 2010 at 8:03 AM

I always had gappy teeth as a kid and finally got veneers as an adult. It has really helped my self image. This is a great product. If my kids inherit my teeth, this product would be fantastic for them!!

I like that they are invisible, i mean that is the purpose.

53 April S August 16, 2010 at 8:11 AM

62 Janet August 16, 2010 at 8:20 AM

It would be great to get straighter teeth without being embarrassed by a mouth full of metal

63 Kelly B August 16, 2010 at 8:21 AM

I love that they are removable. I remember having such a hard time brushing and sometimes eating with braces. Being able to remove during those times would be great.

64 Sue August 16, 2010 at 8:21 AM

I love how it is removable. My 14 yr. old has had a constant, sound-sensitive headache for 8 months so I’ve held off on subjecting him to braces, which he really needs. I didn’t want to cause him anymore pain. But, Invisalign seems so much less invasive, I think he could handle that.

suscribed to your email newsletter ;)

What a great benefit for a teenager – to be clear and less painful than the metal braces that I had. Talk about lending a hand and providing a great deal of self-confidence!

66 Sarah M. August 16, 2010 at 8:25 AM

I like the fact that teenagers can obtain straight teeth without feeling embarrassed or insecure. I sure wish I had this option when I had my THREE rounds of braces (yes, my teeth were severely jacked up)! ;-)

I like how you can take them out for special events.

97 Andrea August 16, 2010 at 9:00 AM

I wear Invisalign now,and I love that you can take them out to clean them and to eat. That would be great for teens — and adults! You can eat without worrying about food getting stuck in them, and you can clean your trays and teeth easier than traditional braces.

I love this option for teens, because it’s one less thing that’s “seen” by others & one less thing to be less confident about. Thanks! =)

I think the best thing about invisalign is being able to have braces incognito. For both children and adults, metal braces where always such a beast and everyone stared at them. They really changed how a person looked. But invisalign helps a kid and an adult not worry about how they look while creating healthier teeth.

205 Maggie M. August 16, 2010 at 11:17 AM

I love that they are clear and they will not stand out and make a child embarassed.
Thank you!

236 Connie August 16, 2010 at 12:35 PM

I wish they would have had these when I had braces. I had clear ones but they still had the metal and the lovely rubber bands. lol And they stained if you drank ice tea or ate spaghetti sauce. Oh those were the days! lol

I like how these can be removed for eating etc. If my son ends up needing braces I will definitely consider these.

Thanks for the chance!

I like that you can remove them to brush–many people I knew who were lucky enough (yes, lucky enough) to get braces had plaque and discoloration issues from not being able to brush well for years. My parents couldn’t afford the braces I needed, so I’m a young adult trying to find the money to do so now.

I like that as an adult, I could wear Invisalign Teen without feeling self-conscious. As a young professional (who looks younger than my age), I fear that I would never be taken seriously if I had normal braces. Invisalign would appear less obtrusive, and it looks like they could even be taken out for important awards banquets or ceremonies. Seems like I could actually consider straightening my few wonky teeth!

791 Cori Westphal August 19, 2010 at 10:48 PM

What isn’t there to love about Invisalign! The best feature is that there are no wires or anything to brush around. It comes right off for easy cleaning!

792 erin August 19, 2010 at 10:48 PM

I love the invisible factor. I had braces from age 18-20 and they were ridiculous looking, painful, embarassing, and they made people think I was about 5 years younger than I was – which would be great now, not so much then.

My poor daughter was embarrassed wearing her old metal braces. I love the clarity of Invisalign–no more nasty “metal-mouth” comments from insensitive kids.

Thanks for a great giveaway!
