Back to School Giveaway: Bissell Steam & Sweep – CLOSED

by Marcy on August 18, 2010 · 1,143 comments

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.

If you have kids or pets (or both!) you know how quickly your floors get dirty. And with the kids back in school, you’ll have all the time in the world to clean them again, right? :-) I’m joking of course, but I am serious about the dirty part – and to help you keep on top of the dirt that gets tracked in on your hard surface floors, Bissell is introducing a new product next week (available in stores the week of 8/21) and I get to give you a sneak peek here!

The brand new Bissell Steam & Sweep is a dual action machine that will allow you to banish your broom, bucket and mop forever. The Steam & Sweep is a combination steam mop and sweeper that picks up dry debris and sanitizes hard floors using steam only! Steam is environmentally friendly and does not leave a residue on your floor – something that bugs me about other products. I was a little concerned about using steam on my hard wood floors, but the Bissell Steam & Sweep is in fact safe on all hard floor surfaces including marble, ceramic, stone, vinyl, laminate, linoleum and sealed hardwood floors.

In addition to being chemical free, the Steam & Sweep offers the following:

• Dual functioning cleaning foot that boasts both sweeping and steaming capabilities
• Switches that allow the unit to be used as a steam mop, sweeper, or both at once
• Easy-to-maintain foot with an easy empty dust bin and high quality, washable microfiber mop pads
• Steam on Demand trigger, which delivers the ideal amount of steam when and where you need it
• Maneuverable swivel head, making those hard to reach places a cleaning breeze
• Easy-to-fill, high capacity, removable water tank that can be filled right from the tap – no need for cups and funnels
• Water purification system that leaves floors spotless and extends the life of the machine
• High quality construction, designed for longevity
• Fast-acting water heater – ready to use in 30 seconds

You can learn more about this product by liking Bissell on Facebook or following @wemeanclean on Twitter. And for those of you with an iPhone, be sure to check out the Stain Solver app for advice on how to clean up daily spills and messes.

The Bissell Steam & Sweep will be available the week of August 21, 2010 at Sears, Target, Lowes, Shopko and Meijer stores for $129.99. Learn more about this product and other Bissell Cleaning products here.

Currently, I am using the standard mop and broom for my kitchen/bathroom floors. It would be amazing to have something new and easy to keep my house clean. The dual function sounds AMAZING! :)

26 Angela August 18, 2010 at 11:21 AM

I use vinegar and water or a swiffer wet pad. I would try this because it is a cleaner and sweeper in one machine.

27 Rebecca August 18, 2010 at 11:23 AM

I use a good ‘ol rag and get on my hands and knees to mop. I’d LOVE to try this out. Thanks.

29 Nicole August 18, 2010 at 11:23 AM

I currently sweep, swiffer, and then mop.

30 Cynthia August 18, 2010 at 11:24 AM

I use a swiffer for general cleaning and the old-fashioned scrubbing on my hands and knees for REALLY cleaning. This would be a knee-saver!

31 Diane G August 18, 2010 at 11:27 AM

I would clean my floors more often if I had this product.

32 Pollyana August 18, 2010 at 11:27 AM

I use swiffer but the pads are expensive.

33 Shannon Gross August 18, 2010 at 11:27 AM

I currently use a broom or my regular vacuum (with hard floor attachment) to pick up debris from the floor and then mop with a semi-functional swiffer wetjet. It’s an unpleasant system, so I don’t do it nearly as often as I should. I have a 16 month old baby who loves to throw food on the floor, so that makes the problem even worse! I have been wanting to try a steam mop of some kind, but don’t have the money to just go buy one. And one that sweeps too…it’s like a dream come true! I would probably use it every day!

34 Erin August 18, 2010 at 11:28 AM

I use a swiffer, but would like something with more cleaning power.

35 Andrea August 18, 2010 at 11:30 AM

Broom and mop(weekly), with my good ol swiffer wet jet daily. I would love to win I could only imagine how clean my floors could really be.

36 Tiffany August 18, 2010 at 11:30 AM

I use swiffers, but we’ve been looking for a steam mop

39 Andrea August 18, 2010 at 11:31 AM

I subcribe through my reader too!

40 jessie August 18, 2010 at 11:31 AM

Right now, I use a vacuum and mop and bucket. I hate lugging it all out! This would make life a lot easier! Especially since I have a dog and 10month old twins!

41 Maggie M. August 18, 2010 at 11:32 AM

I currently use a mop and bucket- mopping is my least fav chore, maybe this would help!

42 dana behne August 18, 2010 at 11:34 AM

swiffer sweeper and vacuum

43 Melissa August 18, 2010 at 11:35 AM

I use a swiffer and it would be nice to get all the dirt off of my floors

44 Christine M. August 18, 2010 at 11:37 AM

I currently use an old fashioned broom and mop. It is a hassle, so I don’t get to it as often as I’d like. I even saw a few ants the other day… not good! I would love to try this product so I would get a chance to keep our floors cleaner for my crawler too!

45 Melanie August 18, 2010 at 11:37 AM

I have dark wood floors and 2 kids under 4. It shows everything and I have to get on my hands & knees with a wet rag to clean. I would LOVE to have this!

46 Lesley August 18, 2010 at 11:37 AM

I hate cleaning anything that is extremely dried up on the floor, mainly spilled sweet tea! How nice when your flip flops sticks so good it comes off your foot!!!!!

60 Stephanie August 18, 2010 at 11:54 AM

I use a combo of a rubber broom followed by a Swiffer wet pad. Not very efficient, and often not very effective. Ugh.

66 Summer August 18, 2010 at 11:55 AM

We use a swiffer on our linoleum floors, but I really have to scrub to get up the tough spills and I think the steam aspect of the Bissel Steam and Sweep would help with that!

83 Jennifer Matthews August 18, 2010 at 12:08 PM

I currently have a dyson asthma/allergy but would love a steamer to get a deeper clean!

84 katherine August 18, 2010 at 12:08 PM

I think have 1 of every type of floor cleaning contraption there is but with a husband, 2 boys, and 2 big dogs nothing seems to ease the chore of floor cleaning. This product is tempting because it would eliminate an entire step, doing the sweeping and washing all in one. I’d love to win this because I’m banned from purchasing another fad cleaner!

87 Kendra Hoy August 18, 2010 at 12:10 PM

I use the shark stick vacuum, and the shark steam mop, would be nice to have one item that does it all though!.

88 Tonya Paradise August 18, 2010 at 12:11 PM

I had an older steamer and loved it and wore it out. Now I use a micro pad mop (daily with 6 kids). I have a stick and tile floor in the basement I would love to see if this worked on the glue that escapes.

89 jr911 August 18, 2010 at 12:11 PM

I currently use a Swiffer wet jet, but would like to try this – I don’t feel like my floors are really cleaned & sanitized as much as it sounds like they would with the steam cleaning feature of the Bissel. With 2 kiddos & a dog & cat – our kitchen floor gets a workout & needs a good cleaning product!

97 Angela Loghry August 18, 2010 at 12:16 PM

I would love to try the Bissell Steam & Sweep – my house is mostly hard surface floors, and I have a giant dog!!

98 Jane Jones August 18, 2010 at 12:17 PM

I currently sweep and mop tile in the kitchen…Constantly sweeping, which leaves so much behind then the moping…this steam & sweep would save so much time in my busy day. Holding down two jobs leave little time for cleaning floors!

99 Lori August 18, 2010 at 12:19 PM

I’m old school and just use a plain ole mop, but my floors never “feel” clean so I would love to try something better and stronger!

100 Ruth August 18, 2010 at 12:19 PM

I currently use a Swiffer on my hardwoods and my tile floors get mopped.

101 Pamela M. August 18, 2010 at 12:19 PM

110 Lindsey August 18, 2010 at 12:26 PM

I just use a Swiffer for tile and wood floors – this looks like it would be much easier to use and it would scrub much better on its own!

119 Candi August 18, 2010 at 12:30 PM

120 Bryan August 18, 2010 at 12:30 PM

We use a rag and cleaner to clean under our daughters high-chair and our sons spot at the dinner table. The floors always have dried fruit juice and stuff building up despite cleaning all the time. Would love a non-back-breaking way to handle this.

134 Mary Alice August 18, 2010 at 12:41 PM

Oh, I currently use the old fashion mop and bucket. My mop head can be thrown in the washer. That is about as high tech as I am right now, but I would LOVE to try this steam and sweep, especially with two cats, a dog, a husband and a baby.

135 Julie August 18, 2010 at 12:42 PM

Eggs, dropping an egg on the floor can ruin my whole day. Drop a dozen and I am down for the week. With the tile floors I have in my kitchen, its a true tragedy. The floors have beautiful detail, and I love the look when they are nice and clean, but its that detail that gets so easily “gummed up” when trying to just mop the floor. So I am forced to scrub. If this machiene works as well as you say, it could be the answer to my prayers.

I use a regular old broom and mop! I would love to try this to save some time cleaning with 2 little ones in the house and a husband!

147 Keisha H August 18, 2010 at 12:52 PM

Currently I sweep my hardwoods with a regular broom and then mop with the Bissell Steam Mop. I LOVE my steam mop, but if it could vacuum up all the loose stuff first, it would be incredible!!

148 Keisha H August 18, 2010 at 12:52 PM

I have posted this giveaway on FB

149 Shelly August 18, 2010 at 12:53 PM

I currently send around our Roomba (Eva) and then use a wet Swiffer. I would love to try this because the wet Swiffer seems to leave streaks and not fully clean the floor.

I use the Swiffer mop to keep things tidy between “real” cleanings, but the solution and pads aren’t cheap. Now, this steam mop looks like a great way to Stretch a Buck!

157 Kristie August 18, 2010 at 1:01 PM

I sweep then scrub the old fashioned way!

158 eM August 18, 2010 at 1:03 PM

I use a Swiffer mop and a Panasonic vacuum. But when I move to my own place, I’m going to need a new vacuum!

I use a vaccuum and also Swiffer in between vacuuming. But this would be great to replace/complement mopping.

163 Julie R. August 18, 2010 at 1:06 PM

We have hardwood floors with a couple area rugs. I have been using a Swiffer for the hardwood along with a stick vac, a Kirby vacuum for the rugs, and then a Mr. Clean mop for the kitchen and bathroom floors. Having this product would give me an all-in-one floor cleaning solution, which would be awesome!

Currently we have a Bissell vacuum, which we love, but it can’t be used on all of our surfaces and it’s a bit heavy (it’s old). I would love to have this new one because it looks so lightweight and can handle all of our cleaning needs!

169 Dixie August 18, 2010 at 1:10 PM

Well. . .when I actually do get my floor cleaned, which isn’t often, I use a mop and dry with a towel (on the hardwoods). I’ve wanted to try this so I could actually keep things clean, but can’t really afford it!

170 Jennifer Crowell August 18, 2010 at 1:11 PM

right now I’m using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser mop. It works pretty good but I’d rather have something you don’t have to use a bucket of water with, and something with pads I can wash. With the mop I use you need to replace them often, and I’m too cheap to replace it.

176 Sarah August 18, 2010 at 1:15 PM

I use your basic brrom, mop and vacuum but I’m always worried about it the floor is really clean since my son eats everything off the floor he can find.

177 Suzanne August 18, 2010 at 1:16 PM

I mostly use a Swiffer WetJet since we have hardwood floors, but it doesn’t always get up the stuff that’s stuck on & then you have to scrub.

178 coupons777 August 18, 2010 at 1:17 PM

I use a spray bottle of white vinegar and a Clorox Mop

179 Sarah S. August 18, 2010 at 1:23 PM

I use an H2O steam mop. I would love this because it has a vacuum on it. If I don’t sweep well enough, mine just pushes the dirt around. yuck!

182 Leslie (lhaslem) August 18, 2010 at 1:26 PM

incredible giveaway and something I can definitely use – currently we just use a Swiffer, which is nice for a quick clean – but this baby would really help with the deep cleaning. Thanks for the opportunity:)

I use a vacuum, then a swiffer, and then a mop. Maybe this would simplify the process!

185 laurel August 18, 2010 at 1:34 PM

I sweep and use a wet Swiffer, so this product would do both at once.

When something syrupy, sticky is dropped, then dried, (sometimes small children and adult spouses do not clean up spills) it becomes hard to clean. I am presently using a commercial cleaner then my own brand of elbow grease. This Bissell cleaner would save backs, knees, and temper.

252 Karen G August 18, 2010 at 2:38 PM

Leave a comment letting me know what you currently use to clean your floors, and why you would like to try this.

I currently clean my floors with many items. I use a paper towel and Method to clean up my dogs daily mess, I use a Swiffer weekly to give it a bit more oomph and then once a month I get down on my hands and knees with a scrub brush to get all the grimy things. I really would like to try one of these cleaners to see if it does what it advertises! It would also make my life so much easier!!

253 Micki August 18, 2010 at 2:41 PM

I use a string mop and vinegar water. That’s it. If I have to get on my hands and knees to clean up a stubborn spill, I use an old tshirt and vinegar water.

I have a 20 month old, so OF COURSE I am concerned and obsessed with keeping our floors clean and sanitary. We also have a dog with some separation anxiety issues, who tends to poop and pee on the flood DAILY! So, as you can imagine I am constantly trying to keep the floors clean. This handy contraption would make life SO much easier! I currently use papertowels and water, followed by the vacuum, and then the steamer.

Right now I sweep the floor then use the Swiffer which doesn’t always get scuff marks or dried on dirt cleaned and I end up having to scub those spots by hand. Also no matter how thoroughly you sweep you’re always finding things when you mop that the broom left behind.

This would be great to combat those 2 problems I have with cleaning the floor

currently use old-fashioned broom and mop. I keep trying swiffer and I keep being disappointed, it just seems to push the dirt around. Also tried a small, cheap vacuum, which doesn’t hardly pick anything up. Would love to have a quality sweeper/steamer combo-my house is all hardwood.

571 Amanda Ansel August 19, 2010 at 9:19 AM

I’m currently using the traditional mop and bucket to clean my floors. I use the hottest water possible to help them dry faster. I love the fact the Bissel Steam and Sweep doesn’t use any chemicals and that the floors dry super fast. Also the fact you don’t have to sweep before mopping is a HUGE timesaver!

572 Dana August 19, 2010 at 9:21 AM

We used to use something similar to the Steam & Sweep, but it broke, over a year ago and we have been back to the old mop, and hand/knees scrubbing.
Thanks for the chance to get our sanity back!

672 Christine Bonds August 19, 2010 at 4:11 PM

I switch between my swiffer and mop. I would love to save time and space with something that sweeps and cleans all in one.

I would love this – my floors are a mess. I use a central vac…which IS great but then I have a microfiber mop or an old Floormate, neither of which do the best job. Plus I have to use floor cleaner with them. I love the idea of steam!

676 Sarah Hirsch August 19, 2010 at 4:36 PM

i currently use a swiffer wetjet to mop after sweeping with a broom but this seems like it would be much more thorough

677 Jennifer Graham August 19, 2010 at 4:46 PM

I use a sponge mom and would love something new and easier!

678 Kendra August 19, 2010 at 4:49 PM

Sometimes I mop and other times I use lysol or clorox wipes. I can’t use swiffer wet jet has a harmful chemical animals can absorb through the pads of their feet. 862 miranda August 21, 2010 at 3:58 PM

I use a Swifter Wetjet and it works great but refills are very expensive. I also like that the Bissell Steam & Sweep is chemical free.

863 Richard Sutcliffe August 21, 2010 at 4:41 PM

My house is carpet free so I get to spend a lot of time wringing out my mop. This would be perfect to replace that mop that replaced my steam cleaner. I used to use an all types of floors steam cleaner, but it blew a gasket and started leaking oil everywhere.

I use a vacuum cleaner and then spot clean with a rag – and do infrequent full-floor cleanings. It sounds bad, I suppose, but we don’t wear shoes in the house and don’t eat food anywhere but the dining room and kitchen. We vacuum about twice a week. We have new tile flooring in the basement (which was carpet – 20yr old dark blue – ick), so the Bissell sounds like a great solution!

I use a steam cleaner but it is not this nice.

1056 Jennifer August 23, 2010 at 5:58 AM

I use a mop with the rope strings…horrible!! I feel like it’s not really cleaning at all.

I recently bought a Shark pocket mop which I love. I would give this one to my daughter if I won it!

I still use broom and mop and clean floors. Ugh

1060 Penny W August 23, 2010 at 7:12 AM

I currently use a regular vacuum in general. I’d love to try this because baby is starting to make a big mess under her high chair and I need a better way than getting on my hands and knees with paper towels.

I use a broom and sponge mop now. I would like to try this because I think it would be much easier.

1064 Melissa August 23, 2010 at 7:37 AM

I sweep the floors with a broom and then “mop” them on hands and knees with a cloth.

I usually use my vacuum, followed by a broom, followed by a dry cloth, followed by a mop. I have cats and their hair and litter get everywhere. This would be a fantastic addition and hopefully replace two or three of my current steps.

OK – this is embarrassing. I really hate mopping the floor. So what I do is vacuum, and then use the spray nozzle from my kitchen sink to get the entire floor wet with hot water. I let it sit for 5 minutes and then I use my steam cleaner to suck up all the water and dirt.

Thanks for the giveaway…since we have three different surfaces (tile, linoleum, & wood) we have to use three different mops/cleaning agents to keep the floors clean.

I use an old fashioned mop currently but I’d prefer the Bissell because it sanitizes instead of spreads germs around.

I currently use a Hoover Floor Mate, which I like, but it doesn’t do a very good job and vacuuming up the dirt and debris.

I would absolutely love to try the Steam & Sweep! I have 20 month old twin boys that make big messes so anything that would make it easier to clean up after them is good for me. Plus, with steam I wouldn’t have to use any other cleaning products, which is another plus in my book!

1114 Amy Delong August 23, 2010 at 12:55 PM

I use the swiffer wet jet, which is easier than a mop and bucket but I don’t feel like it cleans well. I like the idea of cleaning with steam so would really love to try the bissell steam and sweep.
