I am up late tonight for several reasons, one of which being that the hard drive on my desktop crashed. Along with the hard drive went several months of family photos and videos that I cannot get back (per the Geek Squad - not me). Needless to say, I have been kicking myself for not backing my my hard drive more often, and for not developing my photos more than once or twice per year!
I have been working to upload all of my 2009 photos to Snapfish tonight, and I saw that the 50 prints for 50 cent promo has been extended through Monday (7/13)! If you have not already taken advantage of this deal, you can do so here.
And let me be your lesson on how important it is to either back up or upload your family photos often! :-(

I'm sorry about your hard drive, it is heartbreaking to lose your photos. That happened to me a few years ago and my son's senior exhibit and college graduation photos were lost (I thought). I was told by an IT person that all I could do was reformat, but I took the hard drive to a shop that works on computers, and the guy there told me that the file allocation table was messed up (?) but there is another one at the end or back of the hard drive which he copied to where the original one was that was damaged (not sure if I'm describing this quite right). He salvaged everything on the hard drive! I had to pay about $75, but those photos were priceless. Hope this works out for you as well.
oh my friend - I know your frustration. My son welcomed a nasty virus on our computer last year and the whole computer was corrupted. HEartbreaking...so sorry.
I have to say I feel your pain. I've had my hard drive crash 3 times, and lost everything each time as a result of the Geek Squad.
just a note, you can go to mozy.com for at home back up. it is free for up to 2gb and $4.95/month for unlimited space. and the best part is, it does it AUTOMATICALLY at night. when you set it up it you select which files you want backed up and anytime to add anything to those files, it backs it up by itself without you having to do anything. i use it on each of my computers - such a lifesaver!! :)
Thanks for all of the advice and kind words. Now that I am over the initial pouting stage I'm doing ok. It could have been much worse! I'll have to check out mozy.com!
Oh...that is so horrible. Like you, I am SOOO behind in printing out photos. I am so paranoid about my computer crashing that I have an external hard drive that automatically syncs with the photos on my computer and does an automatic backup periodically.
