Market Research: My Recent Experience

A few weeks ago I posted about a Market Research opportunity open to moms in the Central Ohio area. I initially read about this study in the Columbus Dispatch, and after I had time to verify that the company was legit, I decided to call to see if I would qualify. I did, and for the last 10 days I have been trying out 2 packs of pull ups on my daughter and keeping a diary of the results. And while I will admit that it got a bit tedious at times (given that my DD decided not to use the potty AT ALL during this time), it was a minor inconvenience for $100 and a 10 day supply of diapers!

Today I returned my journal, and picked up my check. I was pleasantly surprised when I was also given another pack pull ups to take home. So for my time and effort, I earned $100 and 3 free packs of diapers. To me, it was totally worth it!

I have also taken part in taste testing for a local fast food company (headquartered here). For about 30 min. of my time, I was given a sample to comment on and was paid $25.

While I’m not so sure that I would ever sign up for anything medical (or related to me doing anything to my body), I have (so far) had a couple of great experiences trying out products/food.

One tip I do have is to make sure that you are working with a reputable company before signing up to do anything. Do your research online and ask around…better safe than sorry!

Have you had any experience with Market Research opportunities in the past? What were your experiences? Was it worth your time and effort?
