Cosmetics Database – Product Safety Ratings

by Marcy on August 17, 2008 · 0 comments

So I don’t want to induce wide spread panic or anything, but I just read about a website called Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database, which rates the cosmetics/skin care/hair care/baby care products that we use based on the safety of their ingredients. The article I read (in Oprah magazine) said that we should shoot for products that are rated 0-2. I am currently checking out the products I use, and was surprised to learn that Bare Escentuals didn’t score all that well. I thought that mineral makeup was supposed to be “natural”. Who knew?

If this is something you are interested in learning more about, be sure to check out the website here.

Have you visited this site before? What do you think about it? Do you think it is all a bunch of hype, or do you think we as consumers should be concerned? I’m still forming my opinion.
