Research Is the Key To Savings

The following is a guest post written by Kyle at Rather Be Shopping.

I found the post that Marcy did recently titled, Doing What’s Best For You, to be very timely and nicely done. I totally agree with her that living frugally is all about finding cheaper ways to buy the same stuff you always bought. For me, the key to that statement is doing your research before making buying decisions. With the struggling economy, and ridiculously high gas prices, I am constantly getting email from folks asking me where to find the best price on specific products or coupons for certain stores. People are not willing to pay full price anymore and who can blame them! Discounts and coupons are there for the taking, you just have to do your research to find them. Here are a few websites that are a must when looking for discounts or the best price.

~ My Simon.com – The other day I got an email from a lady looking for the best price on a certain cell phone for her son who was graduating from high school. I immediately went to My Simon.com and within 15 seconds I was looking at a list of 12 retailers who sold the phone, organized by the best price. I could see what they were selling it for and read product reviews without leaving my house. The Internet has made it so much easier to do price comparisons and hear what others who actually own the product have to say about it. There is no longer an excuse to not get the best price available.

~ Use a Coupon Code – This morning I received an email from a lady who was trying to plan a family trip to Sea World in San Antonio, and was asking if I had any coupons she could use. So I went to Google, typed in “Sea World Coupons for San Antonio, Texas” and bam, I immediately found a coupon for $7 off each general admission ticket. Always look for a coupon code, especially when making an online purchase! You can of course use my free online coupon website, or try any of these coupon sites that I highly recommend, CouponCabin.com, FlamingoWorld, and DealCatcher.com. No sense paying full price when you don’t have to.

I have also received several emails from people shopping for Father’s Day and looking for a particular coupon, so I thought I would take this opportunity to pass along some of the more popular Father’s Day coupons I have been given. Please feel free to contact me if the store you are looking for is not listed and I will find you a coupon code. Until next time, happy savings!
