My Wasteful Week and Other Ramblings...

How NOT to be like me:

1) Don't accidentally overdraw your checking account because you weren't paying attention to which account you transferred funds to before paying your credit card bill. Cost to me: $27.00

2) Don't check too many books out of the library and end up paying fines because you didn't get them back on time (because you know I had to read them before I took them back!). Cost to me: $8.40

3) Don't sign up for a 5k and then not train for it. Or check to see if they allow strollers (they don't). Now I won't even being walking in it. Cost to me: $15.00

Total money wasted by me this week: $50.40. Ugh.

On the bright side, I listed a few things on Craigslist yesterday (my first time), and I have already sold $41 worth of stuff. And I am getting close to getting my first Google AdSense check. While it would have been nice to have that money as "extra", at least I'll be able to recoup the money I wasted.

Another bright spot in my day was the arrival of my new dishwasher! After 2 weeks of hand washing I fully realize how spoiled I am and won't be taking my dishwasher for granted for a very long time.

Today I have been working on a longer term financial plan to get us into a new (to us) house in 3 years. I'm hoping that putting this plan in writing will give us a road map to follow, and to show is that our goal is possible if we stick to the plan.

I wish I could offer up something helpful today, but that's all that I have. Hopefully I get my Giant Eagle deals posted sometime this evening or tomorrow.

I hope that you all have a great weekend! Thanks for listening to me grumble. :)

I'm guilty of the library thing. I always check out to many books and forget when they are due.

don't worry about the library fines--they go to a good cause--the library!

Anonymous - good point about the library fines! I can look at it as my way of saying thanks for the great story time they have every week right? :)

I just wrote a check this morning for $18.45 in library fines. Ugh. It made me sick to my stomach.

There are five of us in my family and we each have our own card. I can't decide if it's better to just use one card for everyone (b/c I pay all their fines anyway) or let my kids learn responsibility by using their own.

Anyway, it killed me to pay that this morning. It was mostly from overdue dvds. Our library charges .50 per video per day that they're overdue. :(
