5 Budget Busters

mom_of2boys has tagged me for a "5 Budget Busters" meme today! I am supposed to list 5 of my Budget Busters and then tag 3 other bloggers to do the same.

Here is what I came up with today, in no particular order:

1. Tennis Shoes for my daughter - My daughter has been blessed with these cute little feet that are shaped like bricks. They are not overly long, but are really "thick". Of course I think they are adorable, but they make tennis shoe shopping challenging. I usually end up taking her to Stride Rite to buy her tennis shoes because I know that they will fit.

2. Highlighting my hair - I probably spend way more than I should to get my hair cut and highlighted. I have tried various salons in the past (some cheap, some not), training schools etc... and I haven't been able to find a place that I like as well as where I go now. I do try to go only 4 times a year now, rather than every six weeks when I was working. So I guess that helps a little....

3. Make up - I have no confidence when it comes to picking out the right shade of any make up for myself (concealer, foundation, eye shadow, blush), so I always go to a make up counter to buy those items. I try to use it sparingly, but I know if I got up the nerve to try out some drug store brands that I would be able to save a bundle (assuming I found the correct colors for my skin tone and didn't have to throw away what I bought).

4. Starbucks coffee - This one is more my husband than it is me. I buy one occasionally, but my husband would buy one every day of the week if he could. It becomes an expensive addiction/habit, that is for sure!

5. Our Dog - When we purchased our dog, we didn't realize that she would have to eat prescription dog food. We also didn't realize how often we would have to have her groomed. I had no idea how much money it costs to go to the vet, or how much flea/tick prevention and heart guard costs. If I were super frugal, I would learn how to groom the dog myself. Other than that, the other costs aren't really negotiable.

I am tagging Angie at Thrifty Flordia Mama, Jennifer at Getting Ahead, and Tasha at Comical Coupon Cents!

Thanks for the tag, mom_of2boys!

Was just surfing through your blog and wanted to let you know about the makeup policy at Walgreens and Rite Aid. (And, I think maybe, CVS too.)

If you buy it and it doesn't "work" for you, you can bring it back with your receipt. Not a whole lot of people are familiar with this policy, but I have used it before.
